Moodle Quiz Timout

There is a typical issue what I see with quiz timing from the instructors:

·        When the instructors want to allow let’s say 60 mins for a quiz, they set the open and the close time for 60 min apart and also allow 60 mins time limit.

·        In this case they should have a much wider open and close time range (2-10 hours) and set the time limit to 60 mins.

·        In that case the students still need to finish the attempt in 60 mins, but they can conveniently start it and finish it without running out of time…

Weekly Moodle tips: Quiz Time Range and Time Limits for better student experience

When configuring the timing for a quiz, provide the student a significantly longer time range than the time limit for the quiz completion.

RECOMMENDED configuration

With a longer open-close time range, the learners can start the quiz conveniently and without anxiety. By setting the time limit, they will still need to complete the quiz within the allotted time.

NOT RECOMMENDED configuration

In this example, the open-close time range is only 30 minutes, and if the student does not start the quiz immediately, they will have less than 30 minutes for the quiz. The short time range may lead to anxiety and shortened quiz completion time for the students.
